  7.         Why Shareware?
  8.  
  9.         Shareware offers FmP the opportunity to enable potential users to
  10.         evaluate Taskmaster for a limited period, free of charge.  Having
  11.         established  that  it does meet their needs and  offers  a  clear
  12.         upgrade path, they then have the choice to register the shareware
  13.         or purchase the Professional version.

  15.         The professional version is aimed at corporate clients  operating
  16.         networks,  who need fast turn-around suppport and expect  regular
  17.         updates.    Being  the  product  of  many  years  of  full   time
  18.         development,   Taskmaster is in an unassailable position as  'The
  19.         INTELLIGENT Menuing Language'.

  23.         So what makes Taskmaster stand out from the crowd ?

  25.         In a word: Flexibility.
  26.  
  27.         Flexibility  to design your own menus and  data-capture  screens;
  28.         not  be  tied to someone else's ideas.  You  can  rapidly  create
  29.         imaginative  screens to make your computer as  friendly,  helpful
  30.         and consistent as possible when running your daily work.

  32.         Available  for MS-DOS, CDOS, XENIX and UNIX, Taskmaster   is   an
  33.         Interpreter.  That means it reads commands from an ordinary  text
  34.         file  called  a Task, created by your favourite  Editor  or  Word
  35.         processor.  The  commands are near-english and  therefore  easily
  36.         learnt and maintained.

  38.         It  is not however mandatory for you to learn these  commands  in
  39.         order  to  use Taskmaster.  A number of tasks are  supplied  that
  40.         support a sophisticated menuing system for many purposes.

  42.         However, after using the supplied tasks, you might feel that they
  43.         do  not quite match your requirements in every detail.   For  any
  44.         other menuing system, this would be the end of the story ...

  46.         Taskmaster  is however unique in providing an endless variety  of
  47.         interfaces  because it uses a simple language and comes  complete
  48.         with its own sophisticated screen display manager.  The  commands
  49.         also  allow you to do many things beyond the scope of other  menu
  50.         products.

  52.         Designing screens is again achieved by placing commands and  text
  53.         into a file, usually the same file as the task.  The screens have
  54.         to  be  processed in order to produce the  necessary  information
  55.         your video needs to control things like colour, intensity etc.

  57.         For  example to use HELP.TSK you would first need to process  the
  58.         forms by entering :

  66.         The OVERVIEW task provides access to the rest of the applications
  67.         supplied in the Shareware issue.

  69.         The Shareware edition of Taskmaster is fully functional  and  not
  70.         crippled in any way.  The documentation is brief of necessity due
  71.         to  the  constraints of the issue media.  When  you  register  or
  72.         purchase  Professional  Taskmaster (one of which which  you   are
  73.         legally obligated to do if you continue to use the product  after
  74.         the 30 day trial period), you will receive the latest copy of the
  75.         product  and optionally full written documentation.    You   will
  76.         also receive TIDY, a Utility to correctly indent Taskmaster Tasks
  77.         and   detect   block   structure  errors and  EUC  the  End  User
  78.         Computing option.

  80.         Remember  that  in order to  commercially distribute the  product
  81.         you must  contact  FmP to receive your master discs directly from
  82.         FmP.  LICENCE.FMP  is the end-user  agreement.  Please read  this
  83.         before using the product.

  85.         Under no circumstances must Registered or Professional Taskmaster
  86.         be  included  on  a Shareware issue disc.   Purchasers  of  these
  87.         products  will be supplied with the latest Shareware  issue  disc
  88.         which forms the basis of an evaluation system.
